That's the squad that goes around with test kits, etc and monitors to see what's what in the event of a possible CBR attack. Part of every Command's SOP. This is normal for every deployment. When I was Ship's Company on Nimitz, I was a member of the Navy's version. Every crew member is cross trained on at least 3 other jobs. This one was one of mine.
