Sure. We should always try to verify everything. If I ever find that something they reported was inaccurate, they will immediately lose a huge amount of credibility, even if it was an honest mistake.

Most of what they report is simply events that no one has any reason to believe didn't happen, and can usually be confirmed visually by video footage and by other independent sources.
