The split of good vs evil and the battle for power. The kids were disillusioned and fought for power. Once they were rescued and brought back to reality, the evil ones who sought the power of castle Rock were distraught when they realized what had happened. I suck at explaining things but some of you smart folks should dig into the meaning. I believe it's a reference to lord of the flies.
