They were there on president's orders. New president, at least for optics. We can't have Trump come back and be like "JK I was still president the whole time." it makes him look like a huge pussy but more importantly it completely negates the narrative he had nothing to do with the justice that has to come from the military alone. I think they're waiting for Biden to trigger some kind of open treason as president.
