Are they "watching the water" as in maybe a covert insertion of Chinese assets???
Just a wild guess.
What else would they be looking for???
Loch Ness monster migration
Zero chance Chinese sub/assets gets up the Chesapeake without being blasted, but definitely a weird recon "training" mission.
According to [ http://www.udxf.nl/MCL.pdf ] the flight callsign SCORE is indicative of "SCORE various VX-20 NAS Patuxent River MD". PAX NAS in turn is home to VX-20, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Twenty, a United States Navy air test and evaluation squadron based at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. These flights are nothing more than the testing and evaluation of new experimental equipment. Nothing unusual about this I'm afraid. Just business as usual. See: https://www.navair.navy.mil/nawcad/vx20
Would of been done in secret with transponders off if it was just a test...the drone been up there for 3 hours and counting.
Not according to my son who actually WORKS there. In fact, it's just the opposite of what you wrote. Real-world op = transponder OFF | Training/testing/eval = transponders ON. You have a good day now newbie.
Just stating the obvious, but these two flights do seem to be massively focused on only one area, circling over and over (rather than conducting more broad, general reconnaissance).
Noticed the drone a bit earlier, the E2 is new for me. Thanks for posting Patriot.
Interesting
We also need to ask.. Who is in GORDO16 74-0787? It's been lingering over Lake Superior.
It's an E-2 out there controlling the drone.
The E2-D just got an upgrade and now has the bandwidth to control them. Vx-20 is obviously out there testing it and it looks like they are doing a great job. Perfect flight patterns.
