So I used to work at a TV station. After a live feed ends, they immediately start editing it to air on the west coast. I've seen this exact thing happen when someone forgot to cut the feed or when the feed ended before the scheduled time (I never said it was a good TV station) and they started the editing process.
Not saying that is 100% what happened here, but offering my perspective.
