Hi anon, 10 USC 253 were a part of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurrection_Act_of_1807 and the section in particular was revised in 1871 by the Third Enforcement Act. The law has been in effect for a very long time now, and has been invoked many times. There's a list on the Wikipedia page.
