Let me help you out. Being with the Marines for 8 years, I slept on the floor at least a dozen times because plans got changed. Funny thing is, though, the Marines don't complain about it because they know it happens sometimes. Convoys get delayed, busses break down, planes get grounded for maintenance, etc. The troops deal with it a pretty resilient way because they a trained to do so.
I'm glad our NG just suck it up and get the job done. That's why we love them. It's the friggin' politicians complaining... and the softies.
5000 NG troops is a surplus? In what universe? They ordered 5000 into garage, with just one electrical outlet and one toilet with 2 stalls. Didn't allow them to put up tents on the grounds around Capitol.
First off, nothing to do with dooming. Second, where do you see they backtracked? I know that some GOP guys offered them their offices at the Capitol, and Trump offered his hotel, but I didn't see much else beyond that.
Occasional Cortex was even generous enough to allow NG to use her office for a NAP. You know, "30 minutes and get the fuck out". And Whore of the WH brought them a dozen cookies (for 5000?1) for a photo-op. Such generosity!

The Dems accused Trump of fomenting a riot, so Trump gave them overweening security at the Capitol. Now it's up to the Dems to provide care for that security and they are the ones who banish them to a parking garage. Which side, do you suppose, quite likely views the NG as its jailers?
