Note to commenters: this is curiously the third post I've seen this week claiming to be newly reformed atheist and yet bringing passages from Jewish texts.
I read this as another fishing attempt, baiting the community to attack Jewish faith, people and/or history. don't fall for it.
if you want to err on the side of supporting a sincere seeker, stick to spiritual encouragement but don't be tempted to dive into philosophy or religion itself.
they are scanning these boards to grab "evidence" of violent threats and anti-semitism to be used to crack down on 2A and further vilify "white supremacy."
to OP, if you are a new child of faith, of any faith, I celebrate your new journey in fellowship with God.
I don't understand why you refer to it as "Jewish text" as if that's a bad thing. You do understand that the Old Testament makes up about 80% of the Bible. Also the New Testament, yeah that was written mostly by Jews as well.
as are Jesus' Apostles, of course. I refer to the way OP selected passage triggers the some in the comment section and - because it's uncanny 3 in the last week like this - seems to be by design.
I can appreciate your comment but this isn't exactly church, it's Q research focused. many here live by faith and unite with all our brothers and sisters - atheist included, and we do our best to abide by the Rules (right column).
recently, Jimmy Kimmel and cable news channels cherry picked random comments from the former .Win sites to paint Trump supporters as radical, violent insurgents. people do come here to bait people to say things that can be used for their agenda.
Reading a Gospel from beginning to end. Then reading it or another, and repeat. Read the Psalms, starting with 1. To understand the New Testament fulfillments, eventually you have to spend some time in Exodus with a study companion.
Desperation. We will do anything to avoid our own demise pretty much. May as well pray, it’s not gonna make you die faster if it doesn’t work or something ?♂️
Glad to hear you have asked God for the gift of salvation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
On a serious note though, if you died today, do you know for sure you will go to heaven? And what do you have to do, to know that you will go to the Kingdom of God? And now that you believe, do you know that you can never lose your place in heaven?
Watch this short video that explains all of these things to know for sure, it's what got me saved.
Wow. That’s an incredibly outrageous statement for you to make. It’s actually narrow-minded & il-informed. And I’m being polite. The Old Testament holds a very important place in the life of a Christian. God is the inspirer and author of both the Old and New Testaments. In His wisdom He has shown that the new should be hidden in the old and that the old should be made manifest in the new. (That’s basically saying that Christ is Whom the Old Testament prophets spoke of). Although Christ is the fulfillment of the new Covenant, even He spoke and taught the books of the Old Testament. All of them are caught up in the Gospel message, and show their full meaning in the New Testament through Christ.
Because a young Christ taught the elders in the temple from the Old Testament, it is a lesson & evidence of its importance.
Jesus quoted a lot of Old Testament including the book of Deuteronomy. Other New Testament writings quote the Old Testament. I take the grandparent post with a grain of salt because it’s a rare view of scripture.
Welcome Sister! Welcome to the love of the Lord!

God bless you, may he open your heart to the Gospel, and make sure to read a King James bible!
nice christianing!
Christians would be well advised to stick with quoting the New Testament. Plenty of good stuff in there. Covers everything.
Quoting the Talmud or whatever is no different than quoting from the Tibetan Book of the Dead or similar. Not Christian.

Pay no attention to people like that, the entire Bible is important, it provides a full picture of the human condition and need for a savior.
