The towers were wired for demolition by Turner construction. The same company given the contract for the cleanup. It was critical that the towers fall neatly into their foundations, because if they fell over there would be demolition evidence spread across a wide area and they would never be able to get it all.
That's why they had to fake the planes hitting the towers with CGI. And this always gets pushback, because it implicates the Mockingbirds too.

The weird burning of cars in nearby parking lots (half completely burnt and half untouched). Steel beams turning to dust before your eyes and blowing away. I don't think it was explosives that did the bulk of the work that day.
