Possible explanation of the Arlington 21 Gun Salute having 3 cannons instead of 4 - Arlington’s primary mission is state funerals, where 3 cannons are customary. The video we keep linking to is at Arlington, whereas Trump’s salute looked like it was setup on Capitol Hill. The timing of the salute is still weird, but Army regs do indicate the timing is dependent on ammo quality and team capability.
Your probably right...The context and location support the 3x cannon solute for a funeral...Might have been to acknowledge the fallen soldiers as a solemn symbolic gesture...???
What I was curious about was the gesture and symbolism...They had the entire empty mall, in fact they had the entire DC capital...Why a graveyard? Dead on Arrival? Who knows to be honest? I'll have to do a search and try and find out the rationale.
I’ve also done some research. 3 / 4 cannons (depending on firing interval) is used at a full honors funeral, state arrival or tomb of the unknowns. One gun only fires when one of the others misfire example.
