Does this have something to do with why Ivermectin is being used?

Pretty much all the effective treatments appear to work like anti-malarials or anti-parasitics. The primary action of anti-malarials is zinc ionophore activity. Either they used "malaria" as a component of this 'virus' or it's some kind of endoparasite that is similar to malaria.
