Before you go (and you will definitely go) - ask yourself this question:
“Why is it that DC is sovereign territory?”
Then ask yourself “Why is London a sovereign territory?”
I know why Vatican City is - it was threatened by Mussolini and carved out a few acres for itself, while losing everything else. That type of deal makes sense when you are threatened.
DC was never threatened. Neither was London.
So clearly, there must be some advantage to being a sovereign within your own country. The problem is, do we want sovereigns to be the heart of our law making process?
I’m not saying that America is incorporated in Scotland, Yada Yada. I’m saying there is a tremendous, quantifiable gap between DC and the rest of us. And this makes it worse.
