No argument there. His wife Chao (if I remember right) has family ties going back to Chiang Kai-shek era so there is a whole other angle to things. That being White Dragon (Koumintang) vs. Red Dragon (CCP), billions in Japanese WW2 gold stolen from 1930s China the White Dragons in Taiwan may now control, Myannmar puppet regime, a lot to unpack. Makes me wonder if Neal Stephenson didn't have an inner track on things 20 years ago -
