Ever try and rescue a downing man? You'd better be prepared to rough him up a bit, you will most likely have to. But yes, rescue is still the ultimate goal.

Yes, my husband rescued a high school buddy when they were swimming in the river. He said he came up under him and used his palm to hit him in the chin just hard enough to stun him so he wouldn't drown them both then proceeded to put the chokehold on and drag him to shore. This happened in the 70s.
