Tests of nukes buried under ground that include a shaft to the surface do no produce a creator. They turn the bed rock into liquid magma and it resoildifies. The excess energy is forced up. The bed rock has had this happen and it is visably noticeable at ground zero.

There was a man who survived a 15 story fall with out a scratch, from the 22 story to debris about 7 stories up. Can a DEW create an upword draft powerful enough to slow the decent of a falling man?
