I did some more digging on the 21 gun salute. The ONLY one Biden got was for his visit to Arlington as a FOREIGN DIGNITARY.
Here is an article saying the 21 gun salute at Arlington was to mark Biden's inauguration.
He did not get one before this or after this. It was with 3 guns at 10 second intervals which, at Arlington, is SPECIFICALLY for a foreign dignitary visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21-gun_salute#United_States
The number of cannon used in a battery depends upon the intervals between each round fired. This includes, for example, a three-gun battery firing two of its guns with five-second intervals between rounds and one gun remaining at the ready in case of a misfire; such a battery would be used at an Armed Forces Full Honors Funeral, or for State Arrival Ceremony of a foreign dignitary at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
The wiki is wrong about the interval with 3 guns. It is 10 seconds, not 5 seconds.
Here’s the same 21 gun salute with 3 guns at 10 second intervals given when the Defense Secretary of Jordan visited Arlington.
From wiki:
Today, a 21-gun salute is rendered on the arrival and departure of the President of the United States.
The one earlier on inauguration day is for Trump's departure that morning, NOT for Biden who was not President yet.
Find the 21 gun salute that Biden got for HIS inauguration, like Trump did here. You won't, because it DID NOT HAPPEN.
Past Presidents received the 21 gun salute with 4 guns at 3 second intervals.

Strange that with so many military in attendance they would not do a very traditional military thing…that has been done at every other inauguration I can find.

Foreign dignitaries can receive 21 gun salutes when visiting installations... such as Arlington National Cemetery. But what's the difference between a presidential salute and a foreign dignitary's salute?
Well here is Obama visiting
3+1 gun battery configuration, 3 second intervals
And here is Jordan's Secretary of Defense visiting
2+1 gun battery configuration, 9 second intervals
And here is Biden visiting
2+1 gun battery configuration, 9 second intervals
POTUS always gets the 3+1@3sec configuration. So not only was Biden denied the salute following his oath at the 'inauguration', but Biden was received at Arlington National Cemetery as though he were a visiting foreign dignitary.
The Military does not recognize Biden
And that means literally everything is in play and ongoing
Thank you for this reference with time stamps.
Wow that's insane. So wait, please substantiate what I'm seeing. I watched Obama and Trump and Biden. So after they make the oath, Hail to the Chief plays, and within moments the 21 gun salute starts. But for Biden, after he takes the oath, Hail to the Chief plays but there is no 21 gun salute. Then, there is an awkward silence for like a full minute. And then they just get on with the show?? Lol. Is that really what happened?!
Yes. We watched the live feed, that is what happened.
Yes and I just rewatched it. It's all just so tremendously goofy I wanted to hear other people to be sure they saw the same bizarre scene as me.
Yes that is what happened. And for additional context, when the salute accompanies music such as hail to the chief, the battery commander coordinates to ensure the first shot coincides with the start of the music. It only appears to start within moments because the first shot is muffled by the sudden volume increase by music and cheers and you're waiting three seconds for the second shot.
With Biden there's music but no gun rapports, and no video of guns because none were positioned, because no salute was to be given, because as I surmise the military clearly knows, and clearly does not recognize Biden.
