They were surprised when I said I had no plans to get the vaccine. They asked, "what if it were mandatory?" And I said, "then we'd have to have a serious conversation about that." The subject was changed quickly to something more light-hearted. But it seems like they're at least considering mandating a vaccine in order to work at this office. And if they do decide that, they'll be looking for a new manager for their shipping department.

I think this line of not saying anything they can use against you goes along with the same reasoning about not talking to the police.
Its not that you are wrong by pointing out facts, its to keep them from using what you might say or how you said it against you even if what you said was true.
Sad that this is what society has come to, but if you can accomplish the same goals without giving them anything then that has to be the most prudent course to take.
