I applaud this woman. A lot of women fail to understand that guns are the great equalizers--doesn't matter how big a man is, you plug him with a couple of rounds in the right place and he'll go down. Without the gun, most women are easy prey.
The sad part is that a lot of people are too afraid to lose their jobs to worry about losing their lives. I've seen that myself.
One night, I went into one of the offices I support and the lone female security guard asked if it was okay to stay with me because she heard someone come into the building through a broken entrance and was afraid they were going to pull something. I told her I was packing and walked around the building with her to find them. They ran out when I called out to them and asked wtf they were doing there (with a .40 cal in hand, no less). I asked her why they didn't let her carry a weapon and she said that the building policy prohibited carrying weapons, even for the guards. I told her I look at the sign every time I go in there and laugh at it because there's either a weapon in my purse or on me (thank you, lethal lace).
I got to talking to her and she said it happens regularly and she's afraid, but her boss told her to get over it. Despite the fact that she works from 10 pm till 6 am five nights a week and it's in a shitty part of town (there was a bank robbery in the middle of the day not long ago, and people regularly steal cars out of the "protected" parking lot). I told her she should pack anyway. Better to lose her job than her life. She still won't carry at work, but when I go over there at night, she follows me around to be safe. I don't mind at all.
