Free will + sin = current human existence. Every man and woman is tempted. Greed, lust, envy, gluttony, pride, anger are all tricks used by the Devil to motivate the people away from God's love and into the realm of darkness in order for the Devil to do his work on earth. This is what prevents humans from living in perfect harmony with the earth, each other, and with God.
