Oh nice. Satellite based internet has existed for quite a while, it offered a good bandwidth but also a high latency link for people in remote areas. Latency isnt great because unlike terrestrial signals or cables, the distance to bounce up to the satellite and back down again adds a lot of delay purely due to the extra distances being traversed.
