Not really into making God into a fire escape. God is Love and in Him is no darkness at all. Love never fails and it covers the multitude of sin among other things. Show them the one thing their fearful minds have never seen. The unconditional Love of God. If they respond they'll break free. If not they won't. God doesn't use fear to motivate as it's opposite of love.
