How can you not pay income tax? They garnish your wages if you don't pay. And they come straight out of my husband's check..... I don't think he can just opt out?

I don't think we can pay our mortgage without a bank account. My husband and I were talking about this the other day and I asked him if we could stop using banks, but I don't believe we can pay for our mortgage in cash.
And maybe there is a way, but at this point I don't know how to do it.

As long as the requirements are met, you do not have to have federal taxes withheld from your payday. Keep in mind there are two qualifications that have to be met before filing a new W4 with your HR/Payroll Dept. There is also a February 12th deadline to make these changes.

You select your percentage of withholding via your HR Department.
But if you don't pay, they will just garnish our wages and put fines on us, right? So wouldn't we end up paying more?
