I lived in Austin's twin, Portland Oregon. Cars have "Keep Portland Weird" stickers on them just like Austin's "Keep Austin weird" stickers. I have found that there are a lot more base people in Portland then is recognized. That is because leftists aways think everyone is just like them, the papers, government, etc. work to maintain the illusion that everyone is a leftists, and conservatives tend to keep their politics to themselves while leftists are so proud of their brainwashing that they have to let everyone know.
