well think of THC. consuming pure THC is not a great experience compared to cannabis as a whole. Theres a lot of other cannabinoids and terpenes in there which work in tandem to create a good feeling "high". Could be the same with adrenochrome in pure form and blood with additional hormones/neurotransmitters.

On the other hand it could also have a spiritual meaning. If you are truly evil/satanic you will go the torture/murder route just to praise satan/be evil, instead of taking lab made adrenochrome.
