WASHINGTON IS TECHNICALLY IN DC, BUT IS IT STILL THE TERRITORY OF THE CAPITAL OF THE UNITED STATES?

Yes it is but I would expect it to say Washington DC not Washington US unless DC is no longer what it once was. Washington is a state. Why muddy the waters?
