At least that won't be a question, we will have to deal with.

Sometimes it is just exposure.
My grandfather was Mario Duvauchelle Rodríguez, part of the "Junta de gobierno" during the Pinochet Dictatorship in Chile. (https://www.bcn.cl/historiapolitica/corporaciones/periodo_detalle?inicio=1981-03-11&fin=1990-03-10&periodo=1973-1990&cam=Junta)
While there were fascist in the government, like Col. Manuel Contreras, who killed many innocents citizen, there was also many honest military personal working for a better future. Later when democracy came back, I saw how the media smeared EVERY person who was involved with Pinochet, even those who helped to dismantle the DINA (Intelligence agency). It was emotionally complicated to my grandfather, who suffered many attacks. He was lucky enough to be a lawyer and had registers of every damn thing he signed, did and opposed. Thus not many of the smears lasted long, but it drained his energy.
With that experience, I learned to be skeptical of intelligence agencies and media in general. I had the privilege to have a great grandfather.
