Machiavelli himself was indeed plotting with the Jesuits as to how to ensure the New World did not fall under the sway of the hated Protestants well before the founding. The first settlement in America was Jesuits in Maryland named for the Virgin Mary. The first Governor (edit: actually first chaplain, too much smoking) of Maryland was a Jesuit named Adam( edit: actually Andrew) White. He is the person for whom the Whitehouse is named. Jesuits donated the land for Washington DC and they still own it through their corporations.
Finally, I chased the Art of War for a few minutes and I think maybe the author of Rulers of Evil is the originator of the idea that the Jesuits used their translation as a part of their strategy in the Revolutionary War. It is on page 86 of the pdf where he laid out his reasoning. It is solid but not bulletproof. That is as fair as I can be. Definitely not trying to waste your time. :)

Wikipedia is not a reference, and also don't use Google to search for things. Much of what I am saying I remember from a book called Rulers of Evil that is very hard to find for real but free on archive.org. The first superial general and his first few Jesuits were students of Machiavelli and the book I think said the order was founded earlier than you said, I think 1534, but still after his death. I am literally typing this from memory on a phone, sorry. I will look for a reference for you. :)
