You were fighting for democracy in the Gulf. It just wasn't the democracy delivered in the way that is instant or readily visible.

It appears that someone by way of Austin is setting a narrative - if there's a coup, it will be the "extremists" fraction.
There's clearly a very real threat of a military coup if Austin is doing this. That's very important.
You were fighting for the democracy of the free world. Had the oil region been able to consolidate all power, oil and money as they were clearly going to, democracy would crumble in other countries. There would be no ability for the majority of the world to function without the oil that was available there. The political landscape of countries would change 100%. That's what happens when a resource is scarce. They often shift away from democracy.
The US is still a democracy, regardless of it being a constitutional republic. It has a democratic system - well it did, until 2020 demolished the "free elections" part... and the constitutional part.
