I didn’t realize how weird it all is that we’re wearing masks in public.
For the first time in almost a year I went in publish and held my head up high wearing no mask.
We got many stares and glances.
In the end we were ratted out by another customer who pointed at us and said “They should be wearing masks!” An employee asked us to put our masks on and we complied (we were in line checking out).
We all need to start doing this. Civil disobedience.
Nice job. My grocery store here in Iowa (Hy-Vee) has a sign requiring masks but I always walk in without one and nobody seems to mind. Employees have clearly been instructed to just leave people be, because they are always really kind and never even mention my lack of mask.
That said I'm still usually the extreme minority as masks are "required" and it's definitely a dystopian experience. For a few minutes I feel extremely uncomfortable, but after I get over the discomfort I look around and realize, these people look crazy.
This time has made me realize that for most people the answer to the rhetorical question "If everyone jumped off a bridge would you?" is actually a resounding YES!
