I didn’t realize how weird it all is that we’re wearing masks in public.
For the first time in almost a year I went in publish and held my head up high wearing no mask.
We got many stares and glances.
In the end we were ratted out by another customer who pointed at us and said “They should be wearing masks!” An employee asked us to put our masks on and we complied (we were in line checking out).
We all need to start doing this. Civil disobedience.
My mom and I live in a mandatory mask state. We have not worn a mask once EXCEPT when we go to the hospital for her PT. (She's fine. She needs to stop climbing on chairs.)
Krogers, Brookshires, Farmers Market, Ellis, Cafe USA, Lowes, Home Depot, Tubbs, Ace, Sherwin Williams, Walmart Market, Hobby Lobby... We never wear a mask.
Months ago we got hassled checking out at Krogers by a rainbow mask-wearing, fag in black skinny jeans. He said he'd have to get his manager. We said "OK. You can check us out, or we can leave you to restock these carts." The manager came and checked us out himself and Rainbow mask guy went away. We went back about 10 days later and no one bothered us. Most people smile.
We're polite. We say "No thank you." when asked if we need a mask. We understand we can be "trespassed" but we never have been. Most places really want business.
Now that I've bragged about how awesome we are, I DO need to add... very early on, our local PD openly stated they would not respond to "mask calls". So I understand everyone's situation is different. Pushback where you can. Love you glorious bastards!
