I know his girl is a wackado, but damnit I badly want Musk to be more Tesla and NOT Gates!

I won't be pissed. Always tried to like him but always kept in mind the possibility, and the likelihood, of him being compromised. No one gets government funding, access to and partnership with NASA while being a saint. But yeah it's probably complicated.
