I know his girl is a wackado, but damnit I badly want Musk to be more Tesla and NOT Gates!

You are foolish to think a man developing brain implants is a good guy
That’s the best reason I’ve been given so far.
THAT SAID, in a more secure perfect world (not perfect, but much closer) I would be open to technology that allows me to upload information into my memory. With the way the world operates now there’s not a chance in hell I’d do that at this point in time. There was a time not so long ago where the idea of a heart transplant was considered sacrilegious and that was due in part to the belief that the heart was key to the soul. Then you had the group that believed you were playing God and on it went.. I don’t believe it’s possible for us to be God so I don’t believe we can play God. Because if we are able to create that technology it would only be because God has given us the abilities to be able to make such a device. One might say “well yeah,, God also gave us the intellect capable of designing a nuclear weapon”. And I would get what that’s person was trying to convey but this isn't that. This more akin to understanding nuclear fusion than it is a building of a nuclear bomb. Neural implants have the potential to be of great benefit to mankind, but just like nuclear fusion it has the ability to go very wrong. So just because Musk is working on this doesn’t mean his intentions are nefarious. Our real problem is we have lost or relinquished the ability to hold people accountable. If we fix that then maybe we’d have a lot less reasons to worry about which way this technology goes once it’s proven. ?♂️
There are numerous instances where people who have heart transplants are not ever the same, and some that experience things that was never a part of their life before. There is some indication that the heart and gut have legitimate neurological cells.
Considering that, augmenting yourself with tech in my opinion is lazy and sketchy. And what benevolent purpose would Musk have for developing it? Better workers...no thanks. Have a good time if you want to attach something to your brain, you might have irreversible regrets like post operation transgenders. Work harder...study more.
The idea of embedding a chip in my brain isn’t quite my jam. I’m thinking more on the lines of imprinting memories through technology. I also think being permanently connect to the internet is a bad idea. Humans are so damn inquisitive that they would more than likely become extreme introverts and over time we would lose the things that make us uniquely human. Case in point, empathy. The internet/social media has already greatly hindered our ability to be face to face with someone when we communicate and by doing so it greatly reduces our ability to develop empathy for someone who holds a completely different point of view than our own. I think that’s a large part of why we see so much ugliness in comment sections/text messages etc.. But on the other side of that I can see great benefits in being able to imprint memories. One of the biggest obstacles I see is how that technology would be divvied out. It seems to me it would have to be open source for it to be beneficial to all. As far as being lazy goes I think it would be about what you did with that knowledge to determine laziness. Also, more than likely we would see many more people excel in their fields because they would have been able to try many things out that normally would have been time prohibiting to achieve the education to work in that filed. That means we would probably see a paradigm shift from looking at people’s education to looking at people’s aptitude’s. So it might actually cause productivity to skyrocket and in effect cause people to be less lazy because they are now being judged on what they do with their knowledge and less on just having the knowledge.
