The premise is interesting. There are some issues with it though.
Context. The initial support of the NSDAP did not rest on their record as such, though their infra structure was well funded to alleviate suffering. However, the communist/ socialists tried to do the same thing, but failed. Yet, within this environment, they managed to totally bankrupt the Nation financially, socially, morally, etc.
The mass support they have seen, like in the 36 Nuremberg rallies, was based on the record. This is very important and by slight of hand often overlooked. (you cannot say anything positive about National Socialism)
The third wave experiment rather shows how a population can be tricked into subjugation, by creating a coercive environment, irrespective of ideology, where up is down, and down is up, all you need is the carrot and the stick and an initial acquiescence.
