When France being so woke claims that and plays voice of reason you shall know 2 things:

1.France is already more fucked than US by that communist ideas and it looks more BLM/Antifa/Communism and France would be too much fallen state even for "elites"

2.It is just playing the rational ones by politicians of one of most wokest leftist countries in the world (wokest one in Europe if we not mention Scandinavian countries). France mainstream politicians in XX century were very anti-American by the way.

Having spent quite a bit of time in Canada and the French West Indies over the past 4 years, I'd have to say its a mixed bag intellectually. Francoism is definitely alive and well, but they are not hindered by a piss poor public education system and have independent thought. You have to also remember that France has been subjected to the worst of the woke immigration policies. There is definite backlash occurring in all French corners of the world with the exception on Montreal.
