I am a general class ham. I have been looking for discussions on HF regarding current events. A few minutes ago I came across a discussion on 40 meters at 7235 khz that was about the impeachment backfiring and the hidden truth being dropped as a result. Suddenly the two guys discussing it disappeared, and a couple of guys with much weaker signals started talking about HCQ. I've been listening for about 20 minutes and have heard no call signs.
Does anyone here know of any HF frequencies commonly used for this type of discussion? Q was never mentioned, but these guys obviously have been red pilled.
The OP, or is this a general question (no pun intended?) There are a number of manufacturers out there. More antenna configurations than you can shake a stick at. Radios can be old "boat anchor" tube radios, or solid-state rigs, or even SDRs which are more computer peripherals with an antenna connection that have a USB connection to a PC that's used to drive them. For money you can go cheap or go expensive. My fervent wish is that when I die, my wife doesn't sell my radios for what I told her I paid for them.
These days even cheap is expensive except for those Chinese Baofeng types.
Yeah. Radios like the 718 or 706 look like they're going for $350-450. The next tier is like $700-800. I have an Elecraft KX3 - that's like $900 plus the amp for another thousand or so. Not a cheap hobby by any stretch.
