Dear PGA, I have recently been informed of your decision to ban Trumps golf course from hosting a major golf event because of your “wokeness”. In light of the decision, I would kindly suggest your board to reconsider your hypocritical decision. You see, the biggest yearly stage of golf rests on a golf course in Augusta, Georgia. That golf tournament is called the Masters. Although we are well aware that a Master in the 1800’s were owners of slaves, as much in the quiet little town of Augusta. I would also like to shed light on the racist history of Augusta National golf club. Black golfers weren’t allowed on the grounds of Augusta Nation to play despite the rules being top 20 golfer getting a special exemption invite. You should know this since the the first African American golfer Charlie Sifford was famously snubbed from playing there. As the ban on African Americans joining the prestigious club at Augusta National was finally lifted in 1991, well after Lee Elder broke the race barrier in 1975. It was in 1983 that the prestigious club allowed members to finally hire caddies who weren’t black. With that being said, I’m a lifelong golfer with a scratch handicap. I appreciate the tradition of golf being a “gentleman’s game” and have respected the traditions of the great leisure sport. It would be a shame if “The Masters” a racist name in itself would get the “woke” people to understand the history of racist actions from the past be brought out in the light. Again I deeply wish you to reconsider your decision to ban Trump golf courses from hosting any PGA Tour event. Thank You,
