I didn't get aids. I worked 2 jobs, my husband worked overtime to help me and paid part of my tuition myself and the rest was paid out of scholarships that I won; 1. Writing an annoying essay, 2. The company where I work at gave me a school award as bonus for my job. Therefore, no I haven't received aid, not even when learning the language.

Congrats! Happy for you, similar story here, no aid either. Immigrated here, joined the military and then went back to school after my service.
