5 1/2 years. I came to NYC, but didn't like it and moved to Philly with grandma. I started working on factories and in restaurants until I was able to save to pay for English classes. After that I kept on working and enrolled in college, kept on climbing from job to job until I got a well-stable one, got married and bought a house. So, I went from a below the poverty to a low middle class in 5 1/2 years, my husband grew up in North-philly (worse of the worse) and grew up with me in the social ladder.
