Look for the "privacy redirect" browser extension. It automatically redirects to the old reddit interface, no app needed. Bonus points for redirecting twitter, yt and insta to script-free privacy-enabled frontends like nitter and screwing big tech out of ad revenue.
It's been that way for a while. Even on neutral sub-reddits they force that shit on you. I wouldn't install their shitty app even if reddit wasn't a liberal shithole.
