Dave's demeanor on the X-22 Report, lately?

Is it just me or is Dave starting to get emotional? The past couple of episodes I've noticed an unusual level of animation in his voice. Normally, he seems pretty restrained and even-keeled but it seems like he's starting to get either frustrated or excited. Thoughts?

I'm not thinking desperation, but it is definitely out of character. Even after thousands of episodes, he's rarely deviated from his normal tone.
