I “slowly put on my mask while “entering” the store as the sign says. Once inside I remove it. I get looks but I don’t care. People see-me and walk the other way which is nice because I can shop without people in my way. Someone told me yesterday as he was passing me and walking away, not looking at me “Put your mask on” but wasn’t brave enough to say it to my unmasked face or in a loud voice! I entered my bank without a mask and I was asked by the teller “Excuse me, do you have a mask” from behind 4’ of plexiglass! I said no and she handed me one which I stuffed in my pocket and then she sweetly asked “What can I do for you today?” So I guess getting my money into their bank is much more important than “safety”.
Side note: I am 90% deaf and do not know sign language. I have been able to survive by reading lips my whole life. I will be 67 in March so I am VERY good at lip reading. When I tell people in stores with masks, while not wearing one, that I am deaf and need to read their lips, they ALL have put their masks under their chin, spoken to me then returned their masks when we are done. No problem, except for safety you are not supposed to touch your mask with your hands. To me this is just gov’t control not safety!
