Precisely.

It must have come down from on high to hit this eating children thing hard. I don't think the show would have gone there if they didn't have clear orders to do so. So what happened?

People know there's a kernel of truth in even the strangest stories. So they'll be showing up here in droves to get some answers. And they're quite welcome.
