Sorry your boyfriends dad was discriminated against, but that's not the law. He should be reporting this incident to Human Rights if thats the case.

Our only restrictions are up to 30g dried cannabis carry, 150g fresh cannabis carry, and 3 plants per household. There is no monthly or household limit on cannabis.

So. Your boyfriends father faced discrimination and nothing more.

Now if it was medicinal, then thats another story and you should've stated it was medicinal if it was because those laws are different being a form of medication.
