Because it's about ritual incremental humiliation. They slowly move you to a stage where you live lies each day so when it comes to seeing people being put into box carts you pretend to believe the lies they're telling you. You don't of course believe them, but by then you've already demonstrated in the practical way that you submitted to their authority 1000 different ways.
