I can attest to this as someone that gives probably more than 1/3 of my income to an ex and will probably be losing my house soon for inability to pay the mortgage.
I initially got mad about it but life is too short to be mad and materialistic, now I just accept it and do the best I can to make sure I earn for my kids and to try and be in a good position to be there for my kids as they get older. Failing financially but mentally and spiritually I am in a good place . My kids are all teenagers so I didn't miss their younger years, missing alot now but it is what it is. I do my best and catch up as much as I can in the summer (different States).

So do you have to pay forever or how does that work?
