You're right. To further explain how discrimination laws work, it is only illegal to discriminate against someone if they are a protected class outlined in the civil rights act of 1964 (I think).
As of today, political affiliation is not a protected class.
I believe a republican just introduced this to be voted on. Because of the blatant discrimination that we see happening to conservatives right now thanks to cancel culture. It won't pass unless we start seeing more instances like this, throwing the garbage right back in their faces.
