Without power, we will likely not make it much longer. Below freezing temps inside and outside, dead animals, livestock, and humans are piling up. It's getting to be very hard to "trust" anyone or anything any longer.

If you're in Texas and you expect the government to come save you after a natural disasters instead of working to build community and be prepared to do your part, you're doing it wrong. I live in north austin and went without power for two days before driving my ass to somewhere warmer.
These are exactly the times when self responsibility and preparedness is most vital.
My girlfriend and I had to pull frozen branches off of trees to burn in the apartment fireplace to keep the place about 50°
Used a Coleman camp stove on my balcony to cook bacon in the morning.
