I view pedophilia and same-sex attraction as being on a continuum, from a strong desire to a weak or non-existent desire. Acting upon one's desires is a choice. We can control what may appear as an innate desire, by limiting our exposure to information that stirs up the desires. I think those with strong pedophilia or same-sex desires have a cross to bear, especially when they chose to NOT act out their desires. But we all have crosses to bear in life. I've seen people with crosses that appear much 'heavier' to bear, as I worked many years in a children's hospital. I saw children confined to a wheelchair for life, or mentally impaired for life, and the families of these children also had heavy crosses. How about couples who desperately want to have a child and are unable to birth or adopt a child? How about people born in a country experiencing constant civil war or communism? I am tired of people whining and making excuses and looking for pity because their lot in life is untenable.
