AFAIK, local weather reports have not been compromised. /lol
Hope you have power. Spoke with a friend near Austin and they've had intermittent power only since Tuesday. Lived in TX long ago and do not miss the ice storms. In the northeast now and looking at 8" of fresh snow that dropped in the last 24H. We have a pretty rugged grid however and blackouts are usually dealt with quickly. Finishing my coffee then going out to attack the driveway.
Luckily, I have had power for the last couple hours. A big window in my kitchen dining area cracked about four feet & all my food in fridge went bad. I keep hearing about pipes bursting everywhere and then the worst stories are of people that have died. A nine year old boy died from hypothermia after playing in the snow and there have been several carbon monoxide deaths.
If you are losing power, keep your faucets on to a dribble. This will prevent freezing if water keeps flowing. OK, it's freezing cold outside. Why aren't you putting perishable food where the cold is?
It happened over night. I wish I would've thought of that.
